Participant Protection Practices
At WGI, participant protection is a shared responsibility—and a core value of our commitment to excellence in the Sport of the Arts. The Participant Protection Practices series is a four-year progressive learning pathway designed to build a strong foundation of safety, ethical behavior, and proactive prevention across our community. This annual course sequence equips performers, instructors, volunteers, and organizational leaders with the knowledge and tools needed to foster a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all participants. Each course deepens learning by focusing on developmental themes aligned with key protective factors, informed by best practices in youth protection, trauma-informed care, and risk prevention. Please note that from May 1 until August 1, the Participant Protection Practices courses are disabled within WGI Studio. If you have taken Course 1, Setting the Standard, you can log in and select My Learning in the upper left to access that course. Course 1 and the newly launched Course 2 will be available for all learners starting August 1, 2026.
